Meet Andy
Andy Tedford is a lifelong Vernon resident who believes public service is about listening, showing up, and solving the everyday problems that affect families, seniors, small businesses, and taxpayers.
Andy attended Vernon public schools and is a proud Rockville High School graduate, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. His roots in town run deep: Andy and his wife, Yuqi, are raising their family in Vernon, and Andy is the third generation of his family to call Vernon home, and his children are the fourth.
Andy has a long record of local service. He served on Vernon’s Water Pollution Control Facility Committee from 2014 to 2019 before becoming Chair from 2019 to 2023, helping lead the committee during the town’s latest major facility upgrade. He also served as a Vernon Town Council Member, where he worked to keep local government focused on responsible decision-making, infrastructure, affordability, and community needs.
Public health is Andy’s passion. Over the past 12 years, he has advanced through one of Connecticut’s largest healthcare systems, working across healthcare operations, analytics, innovation, technology, and organizational change. His career has been focused on solving complex problems, improving services, using data responsibly, and helping leaders make better decisions.
Andy’s professional experience has prepared him to represent Vernon in Hartford. He has worked with executive, clinical, financial, operational, and technology leaders to balance competing priorities, manage risk, improve performance, and turn complicated information into clear action. He has supported large organizations with thousands of employees and hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue, giving him real experience with budgets, operations, workforce needs, and long-term planning.
Earlier in his career, Andy also managed teams and operating budgets in local healthcare settings, including Rockville General Hospital and Woodlake at Tolland. That experience taught him how financial decisions affect real people — employees, patients, families, and communities — and why government must be careful with every dollar it asks taxpayers to provide.
Andy believes Connecticut needs more leaders who understand both sides of the equation: the need to deliver essential services and the need to respect the financial burden on working families, seniors, and small businesses.
He knows how to ask tough questions, study the details, manage competing priorities, and focus on practical results. As a proud father, Andy understands what is at stake for Vernon families: lower taxes, strong schools, safe neighborhoods, reliable infrastructure, and a Connecticut where the next generation can afford to stay, work, and build a future.
